Copyright policy

1. Copyright claims procedure

FireVM requires all customers to honor the legal protections afforded by copyright law. If you believe your work has been copied in a manner that constitutes copyright infringement, please submit the following information to FireVM. This process is designed specifically for reporting instances where your copyrighted material has been infringed:

  1. Electronic or physical signature of the individual legally authorized to represent the copyright owner’s interests.
  2. Description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed.
  3. Description identifying where the allegedly infringing material appears on the site.
  4. Your contact details including address, phone number and email address.
  5. A statement affirming your good faith belief that the copyright owner, its agent, or the law has not authorized the disputed use.
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, confirming the accuracy of the information in your notice and that you are either the copyright owner or legally authorized to represent them.

2. Send us your complaints in writing

Copyright infringement notifications must be submitted in writing to our copyright resolution department. Click here to view our postal address for sending your copyright complaint correspondence. Once we receive your notification of alleged copyright infringement, FireVM will adhere to the procedures set forth in Title II of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 USC § 512).

3. Notice and take-down procedures

When FireVM receives a credible copyright infringement claim, or becomes aware of circumstances indicating apparent infringement, we will act promptly to remove or disable access to the potentially infringing material. A penalty of up to $100 may be assessed to cover mitigation costs for a first offense. Accounts will remain suspended until this penalty is settled. Failure to pay within 7 days will result in permanent account termination with no refund issued. Subsequent violations will be handled according to the “repeat infringers” terms outlined below.

4. Repeat infringers

FireVM reserves the right to terminate accounts of customers who repeatedly infringe copyrights, at our discretion and without refunds, when circumstances warrant such action.

5. Accommodation of standard technical measures

FireVM’s policy is to support and not interfere with standard technical measures used by copyright owners to identify or protect their copyrighted works, provided these measures (1) result from a broad consensus among copyright owners and service providers through an open, fair, voluntary, multi-industry standards process; (2) are accessible to anyone on reasonable and nondiscriminatory terms; and (3) do not create substantial costs for us or significant burdens on our systems or networks.
